Bjarne Riis was the winner of the 1996 Tour de France, which was the summer my little brother was born. My parents named him Riis in honor of him. They then decided to take their obsession with cycling a little bit further and gave him Marin as a middle name, which is a county in California and said to be where Mountain Biking originated from.
